HISTORY: The first Super Bowl of Golf (SBOG) started on October 31, 1980. Every year, the winning teams from each chapter’s qualifying tournaments get free invitations to the championship playoff. This event happens at a warm resort the following spring. The SBOG goes along with the NFL Alumni’s Annual Meeting and switches between east and west coast locations each year. The Super Bowl of Golf’s winning team will receive championship rings, inspired by the famous Super Bowl rings.

The NFL Alumni Super Bowl of Golf is the highest-profile event for our association, and we’re especially proud that proceeds benefit the NFL Player Care Foundation and other fine charities that mean so much to us.” —Beasley Reece, former NFL player (Dallas Cowboys, New York Giants and Tampa Bay Buccaneers from 1976-84) and former NFL Alumni CEO

Each group of four players, led by an NFL Alumni captain, forms a team of five. They play a scramble format to win a spot in the NFL Alumni’s Super Bowl of Golf Championship. The night before, at a VIP reception, NFL Alumni team captains are chosen in a draft based on their sponsorship level and donations.

All teams will be provided with a tournament forecaddie who becomes part of the team. The forecaddie will spot shots from the tee, locate stray balls, calculate yardages, and read greens, etc.

Conversation With a Champion provides an unparalleled opportunity to get to know NFL Alumni. Tournament players will enjoy a seated meal and a live Q&A with the event’s Guest of Honor, moderated by Tomas Martinez III, Publisher of Luxury Home Magazine.
